About Us

Contractually makes contracts easy for
web-smart small businesses.

We want to do for contracts what FreshBooks has done for invoicing and what Basecamp has done for project management. With just a web browser, people can prepare, negotiate and organize their contracts, all in one place.

Our grand vision is to make the legal experience welcoming, simple and delightful. While many find the law dull, confusing or even intimidating, we see a chance to make it better.

So far, people seem to like where we’re going. We won the People’s Choice Award at Launch Party 9.

Contractually is based in Vancouver, Canada.

The Contractually Team

Martin Ertl, Founder and CEO

Martin previously co-founded Navarik to provide web-based cargo inspection software for global oil producers. Martin also practised law at Davis LLP, a full-service national law firm. John F. Gray, Director of Business Development

He was co-founder and CEO of Mentionmapp, a visual analytics company that was acquired by OverInteractive Media. Before that, he sold legal software and services (LexisNexis), tech and software services (Rand Worldwide), and medical devices (Auto Control Medical). John has a B.Ap.Sc. in communications and a B.A. in English, both from Simon Fraser University. His secret health trick (don’t try this at home): he actually likes going to the gym — at 5:30am every morning.

Zak Greant, Technical Architect and Advisor

Zak has been building little parts of the Net for almost 20 years, from individual websites up to advising and helping manage organizations behind key Internet technology and infrastructure. He has been a contributor to the PHP project, the Free Software Foundation and the Open Source Initiative, and has worked with MySQL AB, Sxip Identity, eZ Systems AS, the Mozilla Foundation and the MediaWiki Foundation.

Vince Hodges, Lead Developer
